Forestry / Arbor Day

“A person who plants trees who’s shade they will never sit in, has at least begun to understand the meaning of life.” – Rabindranath Tagore

The Crawford County Conservation District partners with our Forestry Commission to provide tree programs to our area schools and community.

We celebrate Arbor Day by remembering Mr. J Sterling Morton, who started Arbor Day, saying that “Arbor Day is not like other holidays. They repose upon the past, while Arbor Day proposes for the future.” Arbor Day reminds us to look to the future, the near future and the far future. It reminds us that every day we should take care of our Earth not only for our ourselves but also for the people who will be here long after we are gone.

Please join us as we celebrate Earth Day at the Earth Day Festival in Van Buren on Saturday, April 22, 2023! Be sure to stop by our booth as we are giving out free pine seedlings until they are all gone.
